My Journey is beginning!

Well I Started college at the beginning of this semester. It sucks so far. I really only want to do my algae business project. Algae is really the only thing I want to do. I've gotten to the point where I would say I have 80% of a business plan. I've decided that with ten thousand dollars I could start to get started on developing a business of growing algae for biofuel. The plan now is to work till I have ten thousand dollars and then buy 5 acres of land and dig a pit, and grow algae. So my roommate was able to hook me up with a job, should only take me about 6 months or so to save up ten grand. As things are always though, it will take much longer than that. So yeah thats my most recent update I'll let you guys know when things get closer, maybe I'll add some pictures of the property I want to buy.

My Music theory

Every musician has their theory on what makes great music (its a fact do not question it). Some believe the harder the song is to play the more people will like it, some believe the opposite, some believe you have to swing everything, and so on and so forth. Of course the factors that depend on some random person liking your music is the presentation, it always helps to be clean shaven and have a nice suit, or other suitable clothes. Then the actual music, but what is it about your music that makes everyone want to listen to it, what is it that makes your music more interesting than mine, van halen's, ingrid michaelson's, or the beatles? I want to break the types of music into two categories, to discover how to find that small part that makes you different. There is music with voices and music with out voices, the challenge is for both to sound like the others great qualities.  I doubt few would argue that the human voice and words can more easily speak to any listeners soul than a guitar solo. however rhythmical and tonal integrity or more easily and much more true on instruments.
Voices have a talent of speaking to and uncovering a mans deepest desires, secrets, thoughts, and emotions. because the words are more relatable they teach you how to live they let you know directly what they mean. Even all instrumental songs have a title of words. this is the missing element most instrumentalists are missing when they set out to create their music, they lack a voice. my secret for instrumentalists is to mimic the human voice and words. Mimic the inflections of your favorite singer and try to play that song like they are singing it, rise and fall where they do even with every word, not just with lines or phrases. ill get back to y'all tomorrow and elaborate on this some more

blacksmithing take two

With the cold weather ensuing one thing is eminent in my family, a fire. now your normal wood fire has very little practical smelting or blacksmithing applications, too much soot, not hot enough etc. However there is one thing they are good for, making charcoal. We all need some sort of fuel to heat our kilns, and some including me do not have the ability or time to go drive into eastern Oregon to get a tonne or so of coal to use, even though it only costs a few dollars. which leaves my fuel of choice to be charcoal, at least until I can get my waste oil burner working properly.
     So how do you go about making charcoal in a fireplace without it all burning up with the fire? It's really not all that hard, all that you need is a good nice steel can, the thicker the better. The can needs to have a loose lid or holes in the top to allow the wood gas somewhere to escape to. Fill the can full of wood and stick it in your fire and let  It sit in the fire until you don't see any more smoke or flames coming out of the holes or edge of the lid then let it sit in there for another ten minutes then pull it out leave the lid on until its cooled down then use the charcoal to your hearts content.
      About the flames coming out of the lid this is because of wood gas production which then the wood gas catches on fire, you don't have to worry about your charcoal burning. Wood gas is a product of heated up wood it is highly flammable, so flammable in fact that it can be used to power a car if the engine is converted slightly.
      So after an entire winter of this I should build up enough of a stock to be able to run the entire summer without having to buy any charcoal. if you have any questions leave a comment or shoot me a message.

MORMONS ARE AWESOME

So I don't know how many of my readers are LDS, or how we are affectionately known, Mormon. As many in the Idaho area know the Boise temple was just refurbished, redone, redesigned, and redecorated. Now it is time for it to be rededicated, which will happen on this Sunday the 18th. Before the dedication our prophet Thomas S. Monson has asked the youth of the temple district and the rest of Idaho to have put on a cultural celebration.
     For the past couple of months the youth have been meeting in their respective wards and stakes learning the dance routines if they are on the dance crew, and learning the songs if they are in the choir. I personally am in the choir, and in fact so is our very own Dan. its been great because i was able to have a spiritual experience at each of the practices, when we were singing songs of praise, to our God.
     So this Saturday the 17th we are having a huge rehearsal and then do the presentation for our beloved prophet. That is what I get to do all of tomorrow, sing praises and then preform to the mouthpiece of God on our earth at this time Thomas S. Monson. 

final note on algae bioreactor

I went outside to check on my algae bucket and found that it was full of water. I stuck a stick down to see if I still had my layer of algae on the bottom, and I didn't. So its still sitting out there, maybe this time next year it will have lost all its water again  but anyways that's the end of my algae project for this year, largely because Idaho just gets slightly too cold every night. maybe Ill work on my VAWT, vertical axis wind turbine, and try to get a battery bank to charge and a use for that battery bank, maybe powering my sisters dogs heat lamp?

this is the prologue:
some people are born with certain ideas, certain wiring in their brains. Some are wired with the idea that they need to do good for the world. Some people are like me, but not exactly. some have the desire to control, others have the capability, some have the natural talent, few know what to do with it. I was born with all of these. I have the talent, the desire, the capability. Few can recognize this in me, i tell them, they listen, they laugh, then they will be brought down into the depths of humility.

Band what it teaches you in life

so today i figured something out, well i suppose i should start at the beginning. first off yesterday in band we had a playing test and well lets just say i bombed it, i play the french horn in concert band (go french horns!). and well ya so i bombed it, i bombed it not because i hadn't prepared sufficiently but because i get nervous for no apparent reason. i could play the tune we were playing perfectly with great musical ability and what not but i get nervous. i don't get mentally nervous i am perfectly okay mentally to take the test, i just lose control of my body. for example if any of you reading this play the french horn you know hard partials are, for those of you that don't know anything about music, a partial is the different notes you can play on a brass instrument with out pushing down any buttons which is all based on how fast your lips buzz. anyways, because i get physically nervous i lose my fine tuned control over my lungs and therefore can not control my partials which is already hard on a french horn. anyways the test was crappy because i couldn't control my partials. and for the whole day i was distressed because i screwed up on the test, i was disappointed in myself and i dint prove to my band director that im good. i had talked the entire year so far about how good i am and i am i just get nervous so i let him down and everyone else that knew how much i talked myself up. but today i realized it dosnt matter as much for the group how you play the solo as when you play the whole work with everyone. well thats my little deep thought for the week come back again ya hear!

so today in English class our teacher at the beginning showed us one of the animusic videos. and well it was totally one of the coolest things i have ever seen cause i mean seriously animated robots beating out a rhythm on made up instruments and set ups well its pretty awesome. but i was thinking, because i do a lot of online / computer audio work. I have used both audiotool.com and beatlab.com. Audiotool has an intresting concept of great user interface and it is very professional. Beatlab on the other hands interface isnt all that great but the ability to record your own sounds and then create the rhythm for them and use thousands of other ones made by another person is great. Then there is animusic, its unconventional way of presenting music is genius. What i would like to do is combine the different aspects of the three and sell the product for a modest price and have a free online version.
